Autumn/Winter 2017 Style Guide

Chapman Spring Collection

With London Fashion Week just around the corner and some new collections of our own to shout about, we thought it might be a good time to take a look at some of this season’s top fashion trends for men and women. Here is the Chapman Bags Autumn/Winter Style Guide 2017/18.

The Autumn/Winter Palette

A wealth of autumnal and warm winter colours breeze throughout the collections we will see at this year’s LFW. Deep reds and rich oranges and browns will sit alongside more neutral tones like camel on London catwalks.

And whilst these sit very well with the colours of the season, there are some less predictable trends coming through such as ‘dazzle’ for women, where dressing for evenings out involves crystal mesh, sequins and all that glitters.

Throw into the mix some white trainers, some grey tailored tones and the right bag and you have AW17 covered.

La Vie Rouge

Red is by far the stand out colour for AW17 and whether it is worn as an accent or a statement it always delivers results. Red outfits from ready-to-wear collections from the likes of Robert Wun, Fendi and Max Mara are all likely to filter from London catwalks to Kings Road high street and delivers red in a celebratory range of shades.

We especially like red, said to be the ‘oldest colour’, in knitwear collections – sweaters, tank tops – as well as accessories with red frills, tassels, and feathers.

Razzle Dazzle ‘Em

Saint Laurent, Balmain and Dolce & Gabbana are among the designers that are championing the ‘dazzle’ trend, as reported by Vogue, and we love it. Now that the packed British summer sporting season has drawn to a close, we look forward to shorter, Autumnal, days on the heath followed by gin o’clock, where we plan to ‘dazzle’! Whilst we love our tweeds and wax jackets, this trend is all about a return of the glamour and dram of eveningwear, and we love a good occasion.

As daylight fades, and chandeliers sparkle, so do those that venture out. As the ladies at Femme Fatales, clay shooting group, put it so well; “Women that have a love for fashion, partying, high heels and lipstick, but also like the smell of gun oil and aren’t afraid to get their boots muddy”.

For us, dressing up never ‘went out of fashion’, so we will continue to enjoy our chandelier earrings, sheer, sequined, and jewelled evening dresses and look forward to adding to our collection from this AW17 trend.

The Sport Luxe Aesthetic

Several leading designers are featuring this look for AW 2017, and as we are fans of tailoring we thought we would give it a look.

Sport Luxe takes simple white trainers and pairs them up with tailored trousers or suits to give an urban edge to a smart street chic. Black trainers or grey will also fit the bill and worn with grey or black tailoring conjure up some monochrome magic.

For gentlemen, our delectable new Reiver Leather Briefcase, in black full grain leather with solid brass hardware, would act as the perfect work bag to complement this look. Complete with a quality tailored wool coat and layered knits. Example of the look can be seen on the Remus Uomo Journal.

We hear that the luxury Cumbrian Gilpin gin ‘Happy Hour’ evenings at 73 Great Titchfield Street are an event not to be missed! We look forward to seeing you.
